Gru: Gru is unceremoniously fired from his job at the Anti-Villain League, which sends his self-esteem crashing. When he discovers that he has a long-lost twin brother named Dru, Gru takes his family to meet his brother in the rural country of Freedonia, where Dru owns the country's largest pig farm. Upon arriving in Freedonia, Gru is hit with an immediate dose of sibling rivalry when he finds that Dru, with his gorgeous full head of flowing blond hair, is his complete opposite in every way. But when the outwardly perfect Dru asks his brother for help pulling off the greatest heist the world has ever seen, Gru assumes the big brother role, and his descent back into villainy starts to restore his confidence.

Dru: Charming, wealthy, larger-than-life, and with a full head of flowing blond hair, Dru is Gru's opposite in every way. He is the life of the party and seems to be able to do everything his heart desires... except follow in the family tradition of becoming a world-class villain. Knowing his twin is far more accomplished in that arena, Dru is able to talk Gru into pulling off one more major heist. But as the twins find themselves spending more time together, we begin to see that underneath all of Dru's bravado is a childlike yearning to be accepted by his brother, Gru.

Balthazar Bratt: Orphan, child prodigy, criminal mastermind. Balthazar Bratt is the former child-star of the 80's TV show EVIL BRATT, where he played a kid villain bent on world domination...until he hit puberty and his show was abruptly cancelled. Clinging to the past with his fashion and hairstyle, Bratt has become obsessed with the villainous character he played on TV, even to the point of recreating the world-ending events from the final, unaired episode of his show. Armed with his killer Keytar and explosive Rubik's cubes, Bratt proves to be Gru's toughest nemesis yet and will stop at nothing to get revenge, even if it means the end of the world.

Lucy: After losing her job as a super secret agent for standing up for her husband, Lucy redirects her workaholic energy and becomes obsessed with being the perfect mom to their three girls. Lucy combats Gru's pessimism with unwavering support. So when Gru reveals that he has a brother in Freedonia, Lucy is the first to pack her bags.

Margo: Margo, Gru's oldest daughter, has all the angsty behavior of an adolescent. But she's still the responsible eldest sister who always puts family first.

Edith: Edith, Gru's relentlessly devious middle daughter, is always looking for the next scheme...now with Uncle Dru's encouragement!

Agnes: Agnes, Gru's youngest daughter, is innocent and selfless. When she finds out that Gru and Lucy have lost their jobs, she does everything she can to help her family, even if it means selling her favorite fluffy unicorn at a garage sale. Her excitement traveling to Freedonia to meet her Uncle Dru doubles when she hears that real unicorns may inhabit the nearby forest.

Gru's Minions: With a master who's no longer a top secret agent and not interested in going back to his despicable ways, Gru's banana-loving Minions are left without any super cool gadgets to test or mayhem to be had. Led my Mel, the Minions decide to revolt and make a go of it on their own.
